We Need Diverse Books

As a 501(c) non-profit organization, WNDB strives to create a world in which all children can see themselves in the pages of a book. To reach this goal, they've created programs to celebrate diverse books, to mentor diverse writers and illustrators, to support diverse publishing professionals, and to provide books to classrooms nationwide.

SCBWI

The Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. The international professional organization for authors and illustrators of books for children and young adults. There are numerous national and international chapters. Click here to find your local chapter.

12 X 12 Writer's Challenge

12 x 12 is a year-long writing challenge where members aim to write 12 complete picture book drafts, one per month, for each 12 months of the year.

The Writer's Loft, located in Hudson, MA, is a community dedicated to helping writers achieve greatness. They have a quiet, drop-in writing space and a community room for special events or just hanging out. Come write with us—because writing doesn't have to be a solitary pursuit!

#PBPitch is a scheduled opportunity, three times a year (February, June, October), when unagented writers of picture books can pitch their story ideas. See website for details on this fun event!
